New Labour Party About to launch in NZ

DPF at Kiwiblog is doing yet another post about some-one advocating for raising the GST rate. Here's my comment:

DPF, you seem to spend quite a bit of time telling us a GST rise will not be so bad, and will hardly cost extra, especially if there is a (temporary) reduction in income tax.

So if the new taxes are going to "balance out" as you imply, why change it?

Socialists love redistributing tax. In this instance, National want to redistribute tax so overseas businesses can repatriate higher profits through smaller company taxes, and the lost revenue will be made up by people. The taxes therefore are going up for "people" as opposed to "businesses". That's just socialism for capitalists.

Drop taxes across the board and let the market do its magic, or just get National to declare themselves "New Labour" and be done with it!

  1. "Socialists love redistributing tax."

I know they love taxes, just that they have to keep coming up with inventive ways of disguising each new tax.

  2. In Britain I have often seen the Cameroon Tories being branded Blue Labour.
